The truth about dandruff: Facts that you need to know about dandruff Finding flakes in your hair is incredibly a common issue. But many people don’t realize what causes dandruff in their hair or the scalp or the best way to deal with it.

What causes dandruff?

Dandruff is a condition in which the scalp starts to itch and flake leaving you with bits in the hair and an inflamed scalp. Mild dandruff can be caused due to many things, including dry skin and bad reactions with the products. But on the more severe end, your dandruff is caused by seborrhoeic dermatitis It is defined as the chronic inflammatory skin condition that may be partially driven by yeast and hormone changes.

Some people are sensitive to that yeast called Malassezia fur that naturally exists on the scalp. For most people, this type of fungus is a harmless part of the scalp skin and the flora and feeds on the oil on your scalp. But if it is allowed to overgrow some experts it can cause an inflammatory response that leads to building-up of skin cells that then flake off. There also seems to be the genetic predisposition to flaking so dandruff tends to run in families. Other conditions like contact dermatitis, eczema, and scalp psoriasis can also lead to dandruff-like flaking.

1) Myth: Dandruff always comes with a dry scalp.

If your skin is dry or you are dealing with contact dermatitis reaction that results in dry skin, it can result in dry skin, it can cause flaking, itching and even skin peeling. But if you have oily scalp that can be a major factor too. that’s because the Malassezia yeast those that are linked with seborrheic dermatitis feed on oil on the skin and scalp. they thrive when there is more of it present making this condition more likely when your scalp is oilier.
To appropriately treat your dandruff, it is important to know whether your scalp tends to be oily or have a lot of product build-up or is on the dry side

2) Myth: Using oil treatment will make dandruff better

Hot oil treatment is necessary for dandruff. To see the effects apply warm coconut oil and olive oil directly to the scalp. But does it work? It could help moisturize your scalp if it is dry. But if your flakes are caused by oily scalp applying more oil will make it stickier and more greasy. Rubbing oils into the scalp can irritate.

3) If you have dry scalp wash scalp less

If you have assumed you have dandruff due to dry scalp, it might be tempting to cut back on washing it too often. But whether the cause is dryness or oiliness you should wash your pretty regularly to rinse away the flakes and any debris on your scalp.
The most effective way to treat the most dandruff is to use over the counter shampoo. You should shampoo your hair daily and swap in an anti-dandruff shampoo twice a week. if you have natural hair you can use the anti-dandruff shampoo once a week.

4) Myth: You should not exfoliate your scalp.

Exfoliating your scalp every once in a while seems a little extreme for most of us. But if you are dealing with dandruff and you think excessive product build-up is playing a role then occasional exfoliating may help. Also, it just feels nice! And helps you get rid of itchy scalp.
5) Myth You can use styling products if you have dandruff If you are battling dandruff flare you might think you should steer clear from adding any styling products to our hair or scalp. And it’s a good idea to investigate the product before using it to make sure that it is not irritating. If you can it is smart to cut back on styling products you are going to minimize the chances of bad reaction or aggravate the one that you are currently dealing with.
But that doesn’t mean you can use styling products ever! As long as you are washing hair regularly ideally daily to prevent the buildup then you can go ahead and keep styling your hair with products that you enjoy.

6) Myth Dandruff does not affect hair growth.

C) Scalp psoriasis. Psoriasis is autoimmune like condition that results in thick scaly and silvery patches of skin that itch and flake.
